Mission Trips @ FCCH

Mission Trips are a foundational, transformative experience for students - giving them an opportunity to step outside the routines of daily life to make an impact. With experiences suited for middle schoolers and high schoolers respectively, your student will have an opportunity to serve as a part of something bigger. It's more than just being a part of a team - it's an opportunity to be on a team that will change lives.

High School Mission Trip: Appalachia Service Project

For over 30 years, our church has served alongside Appalachia Service Project in making homes warmer, safer, and drier. ASP provides one of the most rewarding structured service opportunities in the nation — bringing thousands of volunteers from around the country to rural Central Appalachia to repair homes for low-income families. Each summer, our high school students come together to participate in this incredibly meaningful work.

Middle School Mission Trip: Week of Hope

Week of Hope is a foundational spiritual experience for our middle school students. Every July, our students come alongside seasoned local ministries and nonprofits to make a lasting difference through meaningful community service. They'll learn Christ-like empathy and compassion for others as they meet the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of disadvantaged children, youth, and adults.

A Glimpse into ASP

Cost Breakdown

In a given year, the actual cost to send 1 student on a mission trip can range between $800 and $900. This total cost incorporates the following:

  • The participant tuition fee that ASP and Group Mission Trips charge.
    • These participant fees go toward building/project materials, meals, summer staff salaries and the salaries of year round staff of ASP and Group, and the costs of developing each organization’s spiritual programming for the week.
  • A share of the adult volunteers’ participant fees.
    • No adult that works directly on a crew is expected to pay their way because of the incredible service they are doing for us, on top of sacrificing vacation time to attend.
  • Vehicle rental costs.
  • Petty cash for crews to use throughout the week for snacks, travel meals, gas, and other travel expenses.
  • A cushion for unexpected expenses.

Through grants from the FCCH Outreach board and other donors, we are able to help subsidize this cost, and ask families to pay $550 per student for each year, and allow incredible flexibility on top of that rate.

In 2025, as FCCH looks toward its 225th anniversary, we will be marking that milestone by taking off another $225 to what we ask families to pay. We hope this year that you’ll take advantage of the discount and see what incredible and life-changing programs these are!
