Dr. Jon C. Peterson
Director of Music Ministries
What was a church highlight of 2020? Jon Peterson joined our church as Director of Music Ministries and quickly immersed himself in leading the online and now, in person, music activities for worship and other church events in the midst of a worldwide pandemic. Born and raised in Texas, Jon holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting. He spent the last decade in a university setting, most recently at Malone University as an Associate Professor of Music. Fortunately for us, he followed a desire to return to full-time ministry in a congregation that values social justice and diverse musical expressions! He continues to serve as Director of the All-Ohio Sate Fair Youth Choir. Jon is an avid Guardians baseball fan, and also supports the Cavs and Browns, despite growing up as an Oilers and Cowboys fan. He and his wife, Karen, have two sons, and they can be found hiking and biking together throughout northeast Ohio. He also enjoys cooking, skiing and traveling. Jon brings a healthy spirit of mischief to the worship team…just ask him about that plastic trophy!
Charlotte Beers Plank
Associate Director of Music & Organist
It’s no surprise that Charlotte holds a degree in Organ Performance from Oberlin Conservatory of Music given her talents playing even the most complicated of musical pieces, but few know that she’s also a degreed librarian! In 2015, when Charlotte discovered a music program for people of all ages and one dedicated to service and outreach, she knew she found her work home. Despite her busy role as Associate Director of Music and Organist, she always finds time to lead Halloween Pipe Screams, bringing chills and thrills to the community every October! When Charlotte steps away from the music bench, you can find her crafting, hiking, baking and spending time with her husband, Aidan – also a talented musician – and their son, Charlie.
Chelsea Selvaggio
Associate Director of Music
Chelsea came to our church in 2013 as the lead vocalist for our 11:59 service. Fast forward to present day and Chelsea’s talents are seen (and heard!) throughout our entire music program. She has embraced working with all generations in our expanded music and worship programs. Outside of our church, Chelsea is a music teacher and serves as the musical director for Twinsburg Community Theatre, a title she’s held for over 20 years. We feel doubly blessed when Chelsea’s husband, Bobby, an accomplished jazz musician, joins in the fun from time to time. Their son, Julian, a Film Studies major is following in their talented footsteps. When Chelsea isn’t teaching or performing, she enjoys crafting and giving lots of love and attention to Harmony the Beagle and Eevee the Gray Kitty.
