At both the 8:30 and 10 a.m. services, first - fifth graders should come to the sanctuary and worship with their families through the Children's Message (during the Children's Message, the children gather at the front). Following the Children's Message, the children are led by their grade-level shepherds to individual workshops. On the first Sunday of each month there is no Children's Message during worship, so all children go directly to their Sunday school rooms on the first floor. However, please know that children are always welcome to participate in worship and communion.
Our curriculum is based on a Workshop Rotation - a concept where classrooms are designed into creative, kid-pleasing workshops that teach Bible stories. Our workshops include drama, art, audiovisuals, food, Bible games, puppets and music. Classes are divided by grade level to rotate to new workshops each week for five weeks. During the five week period only ONE Bible story is taught.
Camp Wednesday is our afternoon fellowship for Kindergarten through Fifth grade children. It starts each Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. with dinner (all kid-friendly favorites!). After dinner, the children divide into age groups and head out to choir, while others are doing crafts and fun games. Camp Wednesday wraps up each week at 6:30 p.m.
The Camp Wednesday choral groups sing in church about once a month and prepare all year for the annual Christmas pageant and Camp Wednesday Sunday each spring. Children are able to express their inner creativity in a spiritual format and connect with the church during the week. Email Jen Barden for more info and sign up today!
