Findley School

Welcome to Findley Community Learning Center!

Written by Jane Penny, FCCH Liaison to Findley

In July of 2013, after learning that our church was planning to “adopt” Findley CLC as an outreach, I connected with Sherry Bennington, Principal to see if there was anything she needed help with. And there began my love for this school!

My children were raised in the Hudson City Schools. Volunteers were abundant. Our schools, staff and children were fortunate in so many ways.

We always want what is best for our kids. We want to help them learn and grow and thrive. We want to make sure their basic needs are met.

Findley is a family. The school is an integral piece of the lives of the children that attend here. I have learned much from the staff and teachers about what it means to put the child first in a school setting. And I have witnessed the kids looking out for and caring about each other.

There are 14 different country flags in the entrance hallway (!) so coming into this school and being immersed in its diversity is exciting (and very different for many of us).

With nearly half the students coming to us with English as a second language, there is a tremendous need for reading help. Every bit we can help the teachers, this in turn helps the children!

Giving children the chance to grow to their fullest potential is what this is all about! I have indeed fallen in love with this school and thank you for wanting to make a difference in the lives of these children … it is a forever gift.

Findley Harvest Dinner

The staff and teachers LOVE getting our Findley school families together to “build community” so Team Findley hosts a Harvest Dinner on the Thursday before Thanksgiving at the school for the children and their families.

With over a dozen country flags draping the entrance hallway at Findley, representing our student’s homelands, the event brings cultures from all over the world together to share in the family spirit of the American Thanksgiving.

Fill Tummies at Findley

The staff at Findley Community Learning Center was asked what the school’s greatest need is . . . We need to Fill Tummies at Findley!

100% of Findley students receive breakfast and lunch at school every day. On weekends, many families struggle to provide food for their families. Children who receive food for weekends have:

Improved attendance on Mondays and Fridays

Better test scores

Positive behavior

Improved health

Join us to make this happen! We have the people to pack the food, but we need your financial support to feed all 500 children at $100 each. That means we need $50,000 per year. Raising $150,000 will sustain the program for three years.

Will you, your company, club or church help feed our children?
